|Cams are in the car now. It really is not difficult, but very time consuming.
This is a close-up of the AEM exhaust cam sprocket.
|Another side view of the engine, while cam tuning.|
|This is a pic of the degree plate, needed to time the crank with the cams, according to the HKS specs.
The pointer is installed on the bolt from the oil pump.
|Proof, 264 marked in the cam :-)|
|A pic of the engine with the measuring instrument, needed to see when maximum lift is achieved. And needed to check the real timing with 1 mm valvelift, according to the HKS install sheet. We found out that it is very difficult to achieve the exact specs, for maximum lift, and timing with 1mm lift. Remember, 1 cam degree is 2 degrees at the crank...
Finally we installed the cams like HKS is telling us, and we ended with:
Exhaust cam gear: 6.75° retarded.
Intake cam gear: 1.75° retarded.
