25-05-2005 Cam install
| Cams are in the car now. It really is not difficult, but very time consuming.
This is a close-up of the AEM exhaust cam sprocket.

Another side view of the engine, while cam tuning. |

This is a pic of the degree plate, needed to time the crank with the cams, according to the HKS specs.
The pointer is installed on the bolt from the oil pump.

Proof, 264 marked in the cam :-) |

A pic of the engine with the measuring instrument, needed to see when maximum lift is achieved. And needed to check the real timing with 1 mm valvelift, according to the HKS install sheet. We found out that it is very difficult to achieve the exact specs, for maximum lift, and timing with 1mm lift. Remember, 1 cam degree is 2 degrees at the crank...
Finally we installed the cams like HKS is telling us, and we ended with:
Exhaust cam gear: 6.75° retarded.
Intake cam gear: 1.75° retarded.
